The LaChromUltra system from VWR-Hitachi is a very versatile high-performance HPLC showing excellent precision and sensitivity and with minimal sample carryover. It has been optimized for high-speed chromatography with both particulate and monolithic columns and is equipped with a number of special functions. At the same time it is excellently suited to all standard HPLC applications. The LaChromUltra system is very user-friendly as all parts relevant to operation and maintenance are accessible from the front. Together with the comprehensive and FDA-compliant chromatography data system EZChrom Elite? it offers a high degree of capability in data processing and chromatography system control.

High-speed HPLC analysis The LaChromUltra system and its high-speed columns filled with particles £ 2 mm allow conventional HPLC methods to be carried out at least 10x quicker. In this way real quantum leaps in the productivity of HPLC analysis can be achieved. For this purpose the LaChromUltra system is equipped with numerous special properties and functions:

The highly flexible HPLC system for all applications
With flow rates up to 5 ml/min possible, the LaChromUltra system provides high performance not only for high-speed chromatography using particulate columns but also for rapid analysis with Chromolith? columns as well as for standard HPLC applications. Thus, method transfers from conventional HPLC to rapid Chromolith separations as well as to high-speed chromatography can all be carried out on the same instrument.
Low back-pressure but high resolution The HITACHI LaChromUltra C18 column with 2 mm particles generates considerably less back-pressure than corresponding columns containing 1.7 –1.9 mm particles while delivering almost the same degree of efficiency and separation performance. In this way conventional HPLC methods can be accelerated by at least a factor of 10.
Simple method transfer from standard to high-speed columns The HITACHI LaChromUltra C18 column is available with the same sorbent but with different particle sizes - 2, 3 and 5 mm particles. Thus e.g., standard HPLC applications used with a HITACHI LaChromUltra C18 5 mm column can also be used on a HITACHI LaChromUltra C18 2 mm column with the same degree of selectivity; the separation remains exactly the same but takes only 2 min instead of 20. An additional software tool for easy method transfer facilitates the adaptation of standard methods to ultra-fast chromatography.
