Since 1885, Merck pioneered the research and development of microbiology media and other microbiology-related products for use in food, beverage, water, pharmaceutical, biotech, environmental and university research applications. As a global pharmaceutical company, Merck microbiology benefits from the know-how of a corporate quality department along with numerous specialized laboratories in the fields of pharmaceutical, chemical, analytical and diagnostic research. Our products are recognized worldwide for their quality, innovativeness, and safety. At Merck, quality control and quality assurance are fundamental prerequisites.
Merck places high value on health and safety aspects with respect to dehydrated culture media. Our media are therefore manufactured in compliance with the European Directorate for Quality of Medicines. Produced in granulated form, they offer several health and safety advantageswhen compared to equivalent powder culture media, e.g. they produce less dust. The products’ excellent free-flowing properties, wettability and solubility make them much easier to use than traditional media. In its certificates Merck specifies the highest performance criteria available onthe market. Merck’s quality control procedures for dehydrated culture media were recently adopted in ISO 11133 Part 2, indicating their excellence.
